Painting on paper executed by John Mart Opie early 1970s. Presented behind glass in an antique late 19th c. giltwood Rococo Revival frame, wood with applied compo ornament, gesso and gilt finish. Mitered construction with original inset wood spline keys at corners.
Frame shows age appropriate patina. A stable age-related crack is present in one corner, visible in the accompanying photographs. Some areas of touch up or loss present. This is a heavy, significant antique frame that is nearly 150 years old. Measures 27” x 24” over all.
This original painting is signed verso by noteworthy American artist John Mart Opie (b. 1936). Acquired directly from the artist.
