Oil on canvas painting by noteworthy Pacific Northwest artist Eunice Parsons (1916-2024)
Eunice was a pioneering Pacific Northwest modernist whose seven-decade career spanned painting, printmaking, and, most notably, collage. Based in Portland from around 1940 onward, she became a central figure in shaping the region’s artistic identity, both through her work and her long tenure teaching at the Portland Museum Art School. Known for her intuitive use of torn paper, text, and found materials, Parsons created compositions that explored language, texture, and the poetry of everyday fragments. Widely regarded as a matriarch of Northwest modernism, she remained active into her centenarian years, leaving a lasting influence on generations of artists in the Pacific Northwest.
This early example of her work in paint on canvas measures 36” x 24” unframed. Age appropriate patina. Ships free!
